Rain or shine, the show
must go on. No truer words can be written about the Forbidden
Fantasy show in Perris, California. Forbidden Fantasy is considered
the opening show of the show season in Southern California;
and also one of the largest. One of the reasons the Southern
California custom car and truck scene is so huge and filled
with car shows nearly every weekend is the beautiful weather
experienced year round. Unfortunately, Mother Nature reared
her ugly head this past weekend in March, giving Southern
California its share of heavy rains and storms. The weather
forecast foretold minimal showers on show day Sunday. But
as the day progressed; light showers turned into heavy rains
and freezing cold weather (for Southern California at least).
However, the show did go on and offered a great time for those
not prone to pneumonia. Forbidden had everything from insane
cars and trucks, a bikini contest in the rain and nearly a
fight amongst vendors and clubs.
The night before, as vendors and pre-regged vehicles pulled
into the Lake Perris Fairgrounds in the mud and rain; clubs
partied and caused havoc at nearby houses and hotel rooms.
No Regrets in Moreno Valley hosted their annual FFF pre-party;
booze, girls and music blared throughout the night while giving
a chance for old friends to catch up amidst the mayhem that
only mini-truckers can create at a house in near freezing
weather. Whenever a large car show is in town; local hotels
usually suffer as the party continued late into the night
in the rooms of the clubs. Those able to wake up and drag
themselves to the car show were in for a fun filled and also
a very wet day. Only mild rain fell from the skies in the
morning, which allowed spectators to view the insane cars
and trucks. But like the days before, rain came to the fairgrounds.
Anyone not near their cars headed for the closest friendly
EZ-UP until the weather cleared. The show season in Southern
California since last year has only seen Mother Nature at
her worst at the last Truck Jam where a fire broke out resulting
in a temporary evacuation of the grounds. This time rain poured
down, but the show still went on; even if it forced people
to keep their windows up and huddled under the nearest EZ-UP.
The skies cleared just in time for a few brave girls to star
in the bikini contest. The girls from Local Finesse/GOEZ and
Brand One Clothing put a show on just short of what one would
pay to see at Vegas strip clubs. Half naked and covered in
goose bumps; Rachel won the top prize of the bikini contest
sponsored by Sindicate Clothing...representing Local Finesse
(my club!) and GOEZ Customs. At the end of the night, Local
Finesse took home club participation as well as the bikini
contest. And no surprise, Severed Ties took home lowest club.
